Repeat rows 1-6 of wing tip 1 for wing tip 2, but do not cut yarn.
NOTE: You are going to join wing tip 1 and 2 in row 7.

R8: Ch 1, sc across. Turn (25)
R9-14: Repeat row 8 (25)
Border: Ch 1 (rotate work to sc down the side of the wings) sc in the same st. 13 sc (placing one sc in each row end). 2 sc in ML, 7 sc to middle of wings, 6 sc to other wing tip, 2sc in ML, 14 sc, 2 sc in first st of row 14, 24 sl st across, sl st to first st. Fasten off leaving a very long tail to sew wings to the body.
Antenna (make 2)
With black yarn and G/4mm hook ch 8, sl st in 2nd chain from hook and across (7) Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew onto the body.
Spots (make 7)
Using black yarn and E/3.5mm hook, place 4 sc in the ML. Sl st to the first st. Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew onto the wings.
Eyes (make 2)
I used white yarn and and a needle to create two French knots for the eyes. As an alternative, you can also make a double knot for each eye or embroider a closed eye with eye lashes. You can also use safety eyes.
Assembly
Body:
NOTE: If you are using safety eyes, insert them between rows 10 and 11 on top of body (approx 4 or 5 st apart) before you sew the body pieces together.
Line up the last stitch of the top of the body with the last stitch of the bottom of body (make sure the right side of the bottom is facing out) and sew the pieces together with the long tail from the top. Add stuffing to the body as you work your way around. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Wings:
Arrange the 7 black spots on the wings and sew in place.
Lay the wings across the top of the body. I lined up the middle of row 14 of the wings between rows 3 and 4 of the body. You can use pins to keep the wings in place and use the long tail from the wings to sew them to the body. I did not sew the tips of the wings (at the back) to the body.
Eyes and Antenna
I placed the eyes in between rows 10 and 11 of top of body and about 4 sc apart.
Place the antenna between row 6 and 7 of the body. You can use pins to find the placement before attaching them to the body.

Hi,
I’m only fairly new and am having issues with the pattern. Sorry to sound dumb but what are the numbers in brackets throughout the pattern?
Thanks
Julie
Hi Julie!
The bold numbers in brackets are the stitch counts after each row.
Thank you
