Autumn Crunch Fingerless Gloves – A Free Crochet Pattern

You can whip up this fingerless gloves crochet pattern quick, and it is a great accessory to pair with the Autumn Crunch Cowl. Both patterns use the wattle stitch, which is very easy to learn and looks great in any number of colors! Very little yarn is needed to make these gloves, which makes this a great stash buster or last minute gift!

The Autumn Crunch Fingerless Gloves pattern uses the same stitch as the Autumn Crunch Cowl pattern, which you can find HERE.

ABBREVIATIONS:

Check out the many basic crochet stitches with step by step picture tutorials to guide you through each step on the Basic Crochet Stitches page.

  • ch – chain
  • fsc – foundation single crochet
  • st – stitch
  • ss – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • ss – slip stitch

MATERIALS:

  • H/5mm hook
  • I used stash yarn for these fingerless gloves. You will need approx. 100 yards total of worsted weight yarn
  • darning needle
  • tape measure
  • scissors

NOTES:

  • Read through the entire pattern before you begin.
  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • ch 1 does not count as a stitch
  • You are crocheting in the round for this pattern using the wattle stitch.
  • I used two colors for these fingerless gloves (brown and cream) and dropped the non-working color for each row.
  • When crocheting in the round working the wattle stitch, just continue the clusters in each ch space. You are not joining rows.

Dimensions: Approx. 7″ x 4″

Gauge: 3 clusters and 5 rows = 4″ in the wattle stitch 1 cluster = (sc, ch1, dc)
Find out all about gauge and more with a detailed photo tutorial to walk you though it on the All about Gauge Page.

A brief description of the wattle stitch:

The wattle stitch consists of a cluster of stitches (sc, ch1, dc) that are made all in the same chain space.

When making your first row of wattle stitches in this fingerless gloves crochet pattern you will skip 1 sc from the previous row in between each cluster.

If you like sets, I have also designed the Autumn Crunch Beanie and Cowl. Click on the name to go to the pattern.

Lets Get Started!

R1: With Brown make 24 fsc and ss to the first st.
Alternatively you can chain 23, ss to the first st, ch 1 and sc in each st around. (24)

R2: Ch 1, sc in each st around. (do not ss to the first st.)(24)

R3: With cream color make 1 cluster (sc, ch 1, dc) in the first st. Skip next st,* place 1 cluster in the next st, skip next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (12 clusters)

R4: With brown make 1 cluster in each ch 1 space around. (12 clusters)

Note: If you are using a single color for this fingerless gloves pattern just repeat R4 until you reach R10 (the thumb hole row). Complete R10 and continue repeating R4 until R18 (border row).

R5: With Cream color make 1 cluster in each ch 1 space around. (12 clusters)

R6-9: Repeat rounds 4 and 5.

R10: With Brown, make a cluster in each of the next 2 ch 1 spaces. Ch 4, skip next ch 1 space, make a cluster in the next ch 1 space and in each ch 1 sp around. (11 Clusters & 4 ch)

R11: With Cream color, make 1 cluster in each of the next 2 ch 1 spaces, skip 2 ch and make a cluster in the 3rd ch, skip the 4th ch and make a cluster in each ch 1 space around. (12 clusters)

R12-17: Repeat R4 and 5.

Border:

R18: With brown, place 1 sc in each ch 1 space and dc from previous row. SS to first st. (you skip each sc from previous round) (24)

R19: Ch 1 and Sc in each st around. ss to first st, cut yarn and weave in ends. (24)
