Crochet Wine Bottle Pattern from Pine Tree Crochet

Modified Red and Green Wine Gift Bag Pattern:

***For a seamless look, do not ss to the first st for each round, just continue crocheting on top of the previous round in a continuous circle. ***

**I used worsted weight acrylic yarn (#4) with a H/5mm hook for and the exact same pattern below to make this quick gift**
I started with Green for rounds 1-22.
Changed to Red for rows 23-39.
Finished with green for round 40-58. I wanted a bit more height, so I continued crocheting with green for another 6 rows (64 rows in total).

To finish off, I took two strands of red with a 6mm hook and chained 50 (loosely) This gave me approx. 18" tie. Cut yarn and weave in ends. You could also make this tie longer with more chains. The choice is yours!

Lets get started!

R1: To begin using the magic loop (ml) method ch 1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) and sc 6. (6) ss to first sc.
R2: Ch1, 2 sc in each st around (12) ss to first sc.
R3: Ch1, 2 sc in each st around (24) ss to first sc.
R4: Ch 1, *1 sc, 2 sc in next st* repeat from * to * around. (36) ss to first sc.
R5: Ch 1, *7 sc, 2 sc in next st* repeat from * to * finish with 4 sc in round. (40) ss to first sc.
R6: Ch 1 and sc around. (40) ss to first sc.
R7-58: Repeat row 6. (approx. 12″). Cut yarn and weave in ends.

FINISHING:

With new yarn and the next color in sequence at the top of the bag ss in each st around (40). Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Braided tie to secure the wine bottle pattern.

Braided Rope:

To make the braided rope I used the yarn left over from the 2nd skein.
I cut each color using the full length of color in the yarn.
I folded each color in lengths of 38″ (8 strands of each color).
*you can use less strands if you have less yarn*
Once I folded the colors in lengths of 38″ I draped each color over the back of a chair to keep them separate.
Tie the three colors together with a piece of yarn at the top and braid them.
If you tie the piece of yarn to the top of a chair it makes it easier to braid it.
Tie the other end of the braid together, and trimmed both ends.
Take the braid and tie it around the bag and bottle neck and your gift is complete!

I hope you have enjoyed making this wine bottle gift bag!
