Lets Get Started!

Top of Body

R1: With black yarn and G/4mm hook place 6 sc in the MR. (6)
R2: in x 6 (12)
R3: ( 1sc, in) x 6 (18)
R4: (2sc, in) x 6 (24)
R5: (3sc, in) x 6 (30)
R6: (4sc, in) x 6 (36)
R7: (5sc, in) x 6 (42)
R8: (6sc, in) x 6 (48)
R 9-14: sc around (48) Fasten off and cut yarn leaving an extra long tail to sew the top of the body to the bottom.

Bottom of Body

Repeat rounds 1-8 of top of body. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Legs (make 8)

NOTE: When making the legs, work through the back bumps of each chain.

R1: With black yarn and H/5mm Hook, Ch 20 leaving a long tail to sew to body.
R2: Sl st in back bump of the second ch from hook, sl st in the next 6 st, sl st the next 2 st together until the end of the row (insert your hook through the next 2 back bumps of chains, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook) (13) Cut yarn leaving a long tail to sew to body. Note: There will be two long strands of yarn to sew the leg to the body.

Assembly

Body:

NOTE: If you are using safety eyes, insert them between rows 10 and 11 on top of body (approx. 4 or 5 st apart) before you sew the body pieces together.

Line up the last stitch of the top of the body with the last stitch of the bottom of body (make sure the right side of the bottom is facing out) and sew the pieces together with the long tail from the top. Add stuffing to the body as you work your way around. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Legs

Arrange the 8 legs on the body. I used pins to place them on the body before I sewed them in place (4 on each side). I pinned the legs on the top of the body between rows 7 and 8 each 2 st apart. 4 legs between stitches 8-18 of round 7 and between stitches 25-35 of round 7. These are approximate guidelines only. Using both strands of yarn, sew the legs onto the body. You can also sew a few more stitches on the leg to the body to make the legs more secure.

Eyes

I used white yarn and a needle to create 2 French knots for the eyes. I placed the eyes in between rows 10 and 11 of top of body and about 4 stitches apart. As an alternative, you can also make a double knot using white for each eye and sew it to the body.
