Star Cat Toy – A Free Crochet Pattern

Star Cat Toy - Crochet Pattern from Pine Tree Crochet

I cannot believe it is the end of July already. I love Christmas in July and this was the perfect opportunity to make a fun star cat toy for Mr. Snicklefritz (he is pictured further down on this post).

I love stars, and this quick pattern would be great as a cat toy or to decorate any gift for the holidays. I have even included instructions so it can hang on a tree, door or anywhere.

Let’s keep in touch!

Lets Get Started!

To learn how to crochet any of the stitches (including MC) used in this pattern there is a step by step photo tutorial on The Basic Crochet Stitches Page.

Star – Make 2

Round 1: With green, place 5 sc in MC. Sl st to first st. (5)

Round 2: Ch 1, inc in each st around. Sl st to first st. (10)

Round 3: Ch 1, inc in each st around. Sl st to first st. (20)

Round 4: Ch 1, *3 sc, inc* repeat from * to * around. Sl st to first st. (25)

Round 5: *Ch 7, sl st in second ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc, tr, dtr, sk 3 st (on the circle), sl st in in the next 2 st* repeat from * to * around. Place your last sl st in your first st. (5 points) Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Finishing Instructions:

Place both stars in top of each other, making sure the wrong sides are facing each other. Start in the same st you finished row 5.

With red, sl st through both stitches of each star all the way around. You will be going through the top of the stitch on one star and the ch (bottom of st) on the other.

NOTE: before you finish crocheting the last point together, you can add some cat nip in the middle for your furry friend, or add a little stuffing.

If you would like to hang the star on something, when you finish the last sl st, ch 25 and sl st into the same st. Cut yarn and weave in ends!
