Pattern Inspiration:
I absolutely love this pattern, because the even moss stitch is an easy 1 row repeat and has lots of texture. It has been so much fun designing multiple patterns using this stitch and I have a few more waiting to be shared with you!
I love how versatile this pattern is, because it and can be worked in the round or in rows.
The Ridgeline Mug Rug and Cozy are worked in rows and the Ridgeine Beanie and Cowl are worked in the round. This stitch works well with so many projects!
Added Detail
There certainly are a lot of button options available for crochet projects! I had these colorful buttons in my stash and I think they are perfect for this project. They are so unique and add a pop of color to this fun pattern. The hook and buttons pictured below are from the very talented Niki from Niki’s Knots. You can find her on Instagram @nikis.knots and on Etsy. If you’re in the market for another set of hooks, Niki has lots to choose from.
TESTER PHOTOS
Behind every designer there is a testing team of amazing crocheters, and I could not have brought this pattern to life without the help of my fabulous testing team! I hope you find some color inspiration from their beautiful sunglasses cases.
How to create an Invisible Join and Turn:
Step 1: After completing the last st of round, remove hook from loop. Bring working yarn from back to front.
Step 2: Insert hook from back to front in first st of round.
Step 3: Pull loop through first st, keep working yarn underneath loop, place stitch marker in the same st. Turn. Place the last st of each round where the stitch marker is.
How you can achieve the right fit for your glasses.
Measure the size of your glasses. The length of your glasses is important as well as how wide they are when folded. The given sizes above are without glasses. The small size has a smaller pocket than the medium or large. If you need more room for your glasses I would suggest going up a hook size or case size.
Lets Get Started!
NOTE: If you would like to alter the size of this pattern use a multiple of 2 ch +1. This pattern is written for size small with medium and large in brackets.
ROW 1: Leaving a long tail (approx. 20″) ch 21(25,31), sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Invisible join to first st and TURN. PM (20,24,30) ** Place the last st of each round where the PM is.
Round 2: *hdc, sl st* repeat from * to * around. Invisible join and turn, PM. (20,24,30)
Rounds 3-30: Repeat round 2.
Round 31: sc in each st around. Do not join. Ch 20, sl st in last st. Invisible join to first st. (20,24,30)
Finish off.
NOTE** before you cut your yarn, make sure the chain loop is the correct size to fit over the button. You can alter the size by using more or less ch st(s).
Sew up the bottom of the case using the long tail from the starting chain. making sure the join is going up the middle of the back. Sew a button to the from of the case in the middle of row 24 or 25.
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
