R6-18: Repeat row 5.

Front Piece: Repeat rows 1-16 of clutch back. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail to sew (or crochet) front and back together.

Strap Option: Ch 45 (or as many as you like), sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Sl st both ends together and sew to the clutch, or attach to a lobster clasp.

Clutch Assembly

Lay the front piece on top of the back piece with flap, so the bottoms match up. The flap will be folded over the front.

With the long tail from one piece, or a new piece of yarn, sl st through the bottom of both pieces across. You can also sew this part together with a needle and thread. Sew the other two sides together.

Bring the flap over the front piece to mark the spot for your button. Thread a needle and sew the button on to the front piece (Row 5 small: between st 16 and 17 large: between st 24 and 25)

  1. Nice pattern! I am new at crocheting. I am a little confused. I noticed the instructions for the Small clutch for rows 2 and 3 state (17) in parentheses at the end instead of (33). I tried this first, and it did not look right. I noticed the instructions for the Large clutch for rows 2 and 3 state (45). I frogged the project before I started the front flap because it just did not look correct. Should this be (33)?

    1. My apologies for this row count error. It should indeed be (33).
Thank you for pointing this out. It is now fixed.
