Pathways Fingerless Gloves| Free Crochet Pattern | Cozy Crochet

The Pretty Pathways Fingerless Gloves is the third pattern I have designed using this stitch pattern and pairs nicely with the matching cowl and beanie. Matching sets are my favorite to wear and give as gifts because they look great worn together or separately.

PATTERN NOTES:

  • This is an advanced pattern that is written in US terms.
  • ch 1 does not counts as a stitch.
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up.
  • When joining each round, I used the invisible join method.
  • Rounds 4 & 6 will be worked into the FLO of 2 rounds below.
  • The Pretty Pathways Fingerless Gloves is written in size small with large in (brackets).
  • All even rounds (following round 3) will be worked into the FLO of 2 rounds below (described below).
  • Due to the nature of this stitch pattern, it is important not to make the sl st(s) too tight. If you are a tight crocheter, I would suggest going up a hook size for a looser fit, or just use a larger hook for the sl st rounds so that these rounds don’t pull in the gloves too much.
  • I when changing colors I dropped the non working yarn and carried the colors up each round.

SIZES:

Small: 7″ x 3.5″ fits wrist circumference of approx. 6.5″
Large: 7″ x 4.5″ fits wrist circumference of approx. 7.5″

GAUGE:

Body – 10 st x 10 rows = 2″ in pattern (rounds 2-11)
Cuff- 10 sc x 10 rows = 2″

Pattern Inspiration:

I love cozy crochet sets and the Pretty Pathways Fingerless Gloves are a nice addition to the Beanie and Cowl. I had just enough yarn left over from the two skeins to make these gloves. If I can create a whole set from the same skeins of yarn, I am a very happy crocheter!

Yarn used and alternative suggestions:

The yarn used to crochet the Pretty Pathways Fingerless Gloves is from Smiley Goose Handmade and was very nice to work with. You can find more information about the yarn by visiting the Smiley Goose Handmade Etsy shop.
Some alternative yarn brands used by my testers that matched gauge closely were Loops and Threads SugarSpun and Lionbrand Mandala Ombre. It is important to use a fairly stretchy yarn when meeting gauge, because the gloves are designed to stretch to the sizes mentioned above. There are also notes below if you prefer to alter the gloves making a different size than in the pattern.

Matching sets are a favorite of mine. You can view the matching Pretty Pathways Beanie and Cowl pattern by clicking the photos below.

Special Stitches and Stitch Placement:

FLO in 2 rounds below: After you have completed R3 (or any sl st round), turn the top of your work towards you slightly (to see the top of your stitches). Work into the FLO of 2 rounds below (this would be round 2, or any even numbered round.) NOTE: You are not working into the odd numbered (sl st) rounds. If you are alternating colors every round, when working the FLO of two rounds below you will always be working into the CC color.

Invisible Join: Finish crocheting your last stitch before joining to first st. Remove hook from loop. Insert hook from back to front into first st of round. Pull loop (from last stitch) through first st.

Lets Get Started!

NOTE: To adjust the size of the cuff, be sure to start with a multiple of 2 rows. If you adjust the size of the pattern, the amount of yarn will be different than listed above.

Cuff SMALL (LARGE): Make 2

R1: With mc, ch 11, sc in second ch from hook and across. Turn. (10)
R2: ch 1, sc, BLO 8 sc, sc. Turn. (10)
R3-34(40): repeat R2.

Your finished cuff should be approximately 6.75″ (S) 7.5″ (L) unstretched.

Connect the cuff, do not cut yarn, and continue with the desired size below.

Connecting the Cuff:

1: Fold the cuff in half. Place the first row on top of the last row with the working loop behind R1.
2: Insert hook under last stitch of row 1 and through working loop of last row.
3: Pull working loop from last row of cuff through last st of R1.
4: Sl st through the BLO of R1 and FLO of the last row of cuff across.
5: Flip the cuff so that the sl st(s) are on the inside.

Small (Large):

R1: continuing with mc, ch 1, sc in each row end of cuff. Join to first st. (34, 40)
R2: with cc, FLO, *cluster (sc, ch 2, dc), sk. Repeat from* Join to first st. (17, 20 clusters)
R3: with mc, FLO, sl st in each sc and dc. Join to first st. (34, 40)

NOTE: All even rounds will now be worked into the FLO of 2 rounds below.

R4: with cc, FLO hdc in each st. Join to first st. (34, 40)
R5: with mc, FLO sl st in each st. Join to first st. (34, 40)

Thumb Hole Round (R12):

R12: with cc, FLO hdc 26 (30), ch 8 (10), sk 8 (10). Join to first st.

R13: with mc, FLO sl st in each hdc and across thumb hole chains. Join to first st. (34, 40)
R14: with cc, FLO *cluster, sk. Repeat from * Join to first st. (17, 20 clusters)
