ABBREVIATIONS:
- ch – chain
- st – stitch
- sl st – slip stitch
- hdc – half double crochet
- MC – main color
- CC – contrasting color
- PM – place marker
MATERIALS:
- G/4mm hook
- A very small amount of ww (#4) yarn
- Red Heart Super Saver – Artist Print
- Red Heart Super Saver – White
- Darning needle
- Tape measure
- Scissors
- Stitch Marker
NOTES:
- This is an advanced beginner pattern.
- Read through the entire pattern before you begin.
- This pattern is written in US terms.
- Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- When making the bookmark, I alternated MC and CC each round and dropped the yarn when not in use.
- The pattern instructions are for size small, large is listed in brackets.
- Feel free to use any size yarn and hook for this pattern, just note that the yardage and dimensions will be different than below.
Dimensions: Small: Approx. 6.5″ x 1″ Large: Approx. 8.5″ x 1″
Gauge: Gauge is not essential for this pattern.

Yarn Options:
I love how versatile this pattern is because you can use any size hook and yarn! A few suggestions for a thinner bookmark is to use dk (#3) weight yarn and a 3mm hook, such as the one below using yarn from Mountains of Yarn. To make an even thinner bookmark, use a 1mm hook and fine (#1) yarn.

The bookmark above was made using hand dyed yarn from Big Knitters with a 3mm hook. I love crocheting with such bright yarn because it makes me happy. I also love supporting indie yarn dyers and creating new designs.

NOTE: If you would like to change the size of your bookmark, make sure to start with a multiple of 10 chains.
Bookmark Instructions:
Round 1: With MC, ch 30 (40), hdc in second ch from hook, sl st, *hdc, sl st* repeat from * to * until last st in row, 2 hdc in last st (PM in 1st hdc).
Rotate your bookmark to work in the other side of the chains. *sl, hdc* repeat from * to * across. Sl st to first st. (58, 78)
Round 2: With CC, ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc, *sl st, hdc* repeat from * to * until marker from first row, 2 hdc in next st (PM in 2nd hdc), 2 hdc, repeat from * to * around, sl st in last st, do not sl st to first st. (61, 80)
Round 3: With MC, 3 sl st, hdc, *sl st, hdc* repeat from * to * until marker from second round. Remove marker. 3 sl st, hdc, repeat from * to * around. Sl st in last st, sl st to first st. (61, 80)
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
