WINTER KISSES HAT PATTERN INSPIRATION:

I really enjoyed designing the Winter Kisses Scarf, and I wanted to design the hat to match as well. The pattern has a lot of texture and works up quite quickly using such thick yarn and a large hook. Canadian Winters can be quite cold and I enjoy making cozy crochet winter sets to keep me warm. I like the look of the traditional brim using alternating fpdc and bpdc stitches because it creates a nice texture.

One of my testers suggested that the pattern reminds her of kisses with the rows of crossed double crochet and the Winter Kisses Scarf was born! the next step was to design a hat pattern to match. I also love having quick gift ideas on hand, especially for the holiday season.

What size should I make my hat?

I love how easy this pattern works up because it is only a 4 row repeat and you can make the hat as tall or short as you want. Because using chunky yarn and a larger hook works up quick, the brim is only two easy rounds of alternating Fpdc and Bpdc. The hat doesn’t take long at all to complete.

Measure the circumference of your head and use the sizes below as a guide. Lionbrand Re-spun Thick and Quick yarn has a bit of stretch to it, so I would suggest going down a size if you are in the middle of any of the 3 sizes (S,M,L).

The Small fits a head size of approximately 19″-20″
The Medium fits a head size of approximately 21″-22″
The Large fits a head size of approximately 23″-24″

Yarn Substitutions:

If you don’t have Lionbrand Re-Spun on hand, my testers have easily substituted Lion Brand Hometown and Lionbrand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. Any Super Bulky (#6) yarn will work.
