ABBREVIATIONS:

  • ch – chain
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sl st(s) – slip stitch(es)
  • hdc – half double crochet

MATERIALS:

  • G/4mm hook
  • 1 skein of dk yarn, from Mountains of Yarn, or Approx. 250 yards of dk (#3) yarn
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

NOTES:

  • The Ridgeline Skinny Scarf is a beginner pattern that is written in US terms.
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up, turning every round.
  • Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • There are instructions at the end on how to create an infinity scarf.
  • Instead of using the materials listed above, you can use any yarn and hook, however the yarn requirements and size will be different than in the pattern.

Size:

Approximately 46″ x 4″

Gauge: 10 st(s) and 11 Rows = 2″ in pattern (rows 2 and 3).

I designed this pattern to use only 1 skein. Gauge is not important because I just continued crocheting until I finished the skein!

Pattern Inspiration:

The even moss stitch creates a nice texture when worked in rows. The Ridgeline Skinny Scarf is such an easy pattern because there is only 2 rows to repeat, which means it works up very quickly. This fun pattern only uses slip stitches and hdc, that’s it! When working the even moss stitch, always be sure to place your slip stitches on top of a hdc from the previous row, and place a hdc on top of the slip stitch from the previous row.

Yarn Used:

My favorite colors are pink and purple, and I had one hand dyed skein of yarn from Mountains of Yarn waiting to be turned into something special. This dk colorway is called Lake Day and you can find it (and other beautiful yarns) on Kara’s website.

Lets Get Started!

NOTE: to alter the size of your scarf, us a mlutiple of 2 +1 chains to start.

R1: Ch 20, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, *sl st, hdc* repeat from * to * across. Turn. (19)

R2: Ch 1, sl st, *hdc, sl st* repeat from * to * across. Turn. (19)

R3: Ch 1, hdc, *sl st, hdc* repeat from * to * across. Turn. (19)

Rows 4-240: Repeat rows 2 and 3 (or until desired length).

Cut yarn and weave in ends. If you would like to make an infinity scarf follow the directions below.

Infinity Scarf Option:

I love the option of creating an infinity scarf, because I always find regular scarves never stay in place under my coat and I am always repositioning. Keep your scarf close to your neck with the wrap around infinity scarf option. If you would like to make an infinity scarf, place the first and last rows on top of each other and sl st through both rows. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Congratulations!
